laura-psychotherapist

... a clinical and educational psychologist passionate about sharing uplifting and practical insights from psychology to help you empower yourself to live in aligment with what matters most to you.

Life can be confusing and hard at times. I support people in making sense of themselves and (re-)connecting with, unleashing, and wisely guiding their inner  strength. My work is grounded in the belief that with the right mindset, knowledge, and skills, we are far more capable of growth and happiness than we often imagine.

I believe personal growth is the greatest adventure life holds for us - is there anything else that can change the quality of our experience in such a meaningful way?

I hold a diploma (master’s degree) and a doctorate (PhD) in psychology. My doctoral research was funded by a scholarship from the Foundation of the German Economy. I am licensed by the Professional Association of Psychologists in Germany and recognized by the Central Federal Association of Health Insurance Funds for training and counseling services that promote mental health and prevent mental illness. I’m also licensed as a psychotherapist under the German “Heilpraktiker” Law and am currently completing the requirements for the official state psychotherapy license (“Approbation”). I have 15 years of experience as a speaker, teacher, and counselor/coach. In 2019, I began sharing my work on YouTube. I've worked in personnel development (at Gartner-Steffen Personalentwicklung and self-employed) and at a clinic for psychotherapy and psychiatry (Limes Schlossklinik Mecklenburg). I currently work part-time in a psychotherapy practice in Berlin and spend the rest of my week in my own online practice.

A frequently asked question about me: where did you learn to speak English?

From 1995–1999, my family and I lived in Vermont (USA), where I also attended school. We moved there because of my father’s job—he was an engineer, and the company he worked for needed staff at their Vermont branch and offered him the opportunity.

Psychologist Explains What Helps Avoidants Heal | Healing An Avoidant Attachment Style

When we come into this world, we observe how the adults in our life
interact with each other. We also start interacting with them. From all of this experience, we learn lessons about relationships. These lessons accumulate into relationship patterns, we start interacting with others in specific patterns called attachment styles. Researchers have identified three insecure attachment styles: avoidant attachment, anxious attachment and disorganized attachment. The fourth attachment style is secure attachment. In this video I shed light on avoidant attachment, specifically what helps heal it and transform it into secure attachment.

Psychological Work To Do On Yourself Before Dating Again After A Breakup

feeling lonely and rejected, what I need is company and reassurance, that will help me feel better. However, this strategy often backfires. In this video you'll learn why and what to do instead.
